| Affordable gear rental on a membership basis. | |||||||||||||||
| Have you ever needed a specific piece of gear for a project, but didn't have the cash to fork out to buy it; or even if you did have the cash, you didn't want to blow it all on a piece of gear that would spend most of its days on a shelf, after needing it for that one, random session? Yeah, I have. This was the inspiration for my SRR Gear Co-Op Program. Here's how it works: You pay a membership fee every three months and get access to any gear we own - first come, first serve. There are no additional rental fees. The only catch is that you need to request gear in advance to absolutely ensure that you get it when you need it. You can rent any piece (or pieces) of gear for up to three days at a stretch. If somebody else requests the same piece of equipment for the same dates, we won't make you shorten your request, but in the name of collaboration, we'd appreciate you voluntarily shortening or changing the dates you need the gear for. So how much does it cost? It's $100 to join and $50 every three months after that. The $100 covers your first three months, and also goes towards purchasing new gear for the co-op. We don't have much gear available right now because we're just launching the program, but if there is a particular piece of gear that would like to see right away, let us know. Here's what we have right now: AKG 414C Rode NT1A Fender Princeton DSP 65 Amp MOTU 828mkII Audio Interface Peavey Bandit 112 Amp Line6 DL4 Delay Pedal Boss ME30 Multi-Effects Pedal Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus Pedal and Other Assorted Boxes Presonus HP4 Headphone Amp Audio Technica ATH-M30 Headphones (3) Now, as you can imagine, we have to ensure that this gear won't be abused, so we have a number of rules to safeguard you and your investment: 1. We and the renter inspect all gear prior to renting it out. We fill out a form, making notes of any nicks, dings, scratches, etc. More importantly than cosmetics, we make sure it works before we lend it out. 2. We require each renter to leave us with a credit card number when they pick up gear. If the gear doesn't come back at all, or if the gear comes back in irreparable condition, the person gets charged the replacement cost of the equipment. If it can be fixed, the renter is only charged the repair cost. We will always contact gear manufacturers about repairs covered under warranty first, before sending something to another repair shop. 3. We do not hold you accountable for malfunctioning equipment due to a manufacturer's defect. Nor do we charge you for things that can be considered "normal wear and tear" of a piece of gear (a bad pot, a small nick on a pedal, etc); but remember that this is your gear, too! Let's take care of it together! Join today. Send us an email: srr [at] jaymathes.com |
